The State Street Bridge over the Mill River was constructed in 1920. The foundations for the bridge have deteriorated and as a result the bridge must be replaced. The new bridge will have a roadway width of forty-four feet with sidewalks on each side that will be nine feet- six inches wide. C. J. Fucci Construction, Inc. was chosen in a competitive bidding process as contractor for the work. Inspection for the construction will be performed by GM2 Associates for the City of New Haven and the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The construction work is valued at 5.1 million dollars.
