Third-Party Structural Review Services: 18 Temple Street – Hartford,
CT
The
Sage Allen Building Restoration
GM2 conducted an independent threshold peer review of the additions to the
existing eight-story-high Sage Allen Building at 18 Temple Street
in Hartford, CT. The new structure had to conform to the 1996 BOCA code
with the Connecticut supplement. The braced frames in the additions had
to be designed to resist the seismic lateral forces due to the new additions
as well as the existing building. Foundations for braced frames included
spread footings with post-tensioned tie-down rock anchors to prevent uplift
under lateral load conditions. The review also involved a comprehensive
check of the RAM model to determine the adequacy of all applied loads and
structural elements.
